About Us

 

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a nonprofit, self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to bereaved families. Its’ mission is to assist them in the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child and to provide information and education to help others to be supportive. Founded in England in 1969, the first U.S. chapter was organized in 1972.

Presently there are over 600 chapters in United States.

There are seven TCF Internet chat sessions weekly. To participate, visit the TCF home page and select the “Chat” button.

The TCF Northern Lake County chapter was formed in 1976. We publish a monthly newsletter that is mailed or can be read online. We welcome your comments and/or items submitted for use in the newsletter. Short articles, poems, or book reviews are always welcome.

Meeting Schedule prior to Covid-19 restrictions:

The Northern Lake County, IL chapter has two meetings per month. The main chapter meeting is on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Millburn Congregational Church, 19073 West Old Town Court in Lake Villa,Il. A second chapter meeting that is bilingual is held on the first Thursday of each month at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 45o Keller Ave., Waukegan, IL at 7:00 p.m. There is no meeting at Waukegan for the month of August.
